The Margin Score

A competitiveness index for every contest we hold verified results for. The closer the race, the higher the score — a perfect 100 is a dead heat, a blowout trends toward 0.

Methodology (v1). Margin Score = 100 − (winner's vote share − runner-up's vote share), in percentage points, clamped to 0–100. Bands: Toss-up (95+), Highly competitive (85–94), Competitive (70–84), Lean (50–69), Safe (<50). Scores populate automatically for each county and constituency as verified results are added to the platform.
